Will DBU work with flat files or System/36 files?

Yes, DDS is not required. The data will be presented in raw form. But you have various options:

  • You can create an application over flat files defining the fields. The file then appears as an externally defined file while using that application.
  • You can create DDS for your flat file by using a combination of the Import and Export function keys on the DBU Field Selection screen.
  • You may also use DBU Field Selection screen to define the fields and then export them as DDS.
